Light Show West
CLS is proud to have once again co-sponsored Light Show West in 2009 which continues to be the largest lighting show on the West Coast. This year’s event was held October 21st and 22nd at the L. A. Convention Center. In spite of the sluggish economy, the 2009 edition of Light Show West smashed several records with 2,000 attendees and nearly 200 exhibitors spread over 25,000 square feet of floor space. The CLS Pavilion featured 25 manufacturers and 5,000 square feet of the latest in lighting & controls plus a hospitality lounge and Guitar Hero to boot!!

ESPN Zone World Series Watch Party
On the Tuesday night before the show, CLS hosted our manufacturers and guests at a World Series Watch Party at the ESPN Zone in the LA Live complex. Our guests enjoyed a relaxing evening – even though our LA Angels fell to the eventual World Series champ New York Yankees. Congrats to Yankee fans Eric Leskin and John “JR” Richardson for enduring some good-natured ribbing from the Orange County contingent. Better luck next year, Halos!

Letting Our Hair Down!
On Wednesday, more than 200 manufacturers, specifiers and customers got some well-deserved rest and relaxation after the opening day of the show attracted more attendees than the entire 2-day event in 2007.

Many thanks to HE Williams for sponsoring our Light Show West After-Party at the Elevate Lounge. There, our guests talked while enjoying cocktails and appetizers that included some of the finest sushi in the city. Later in the evening things became a bit more “festive” as dancing and conversation picked-up steam. The weather was perfect, so the floor-to-ceiling glass offered extraordinary views of the downtown lights. See party photos

Los Angeles Designer Lighting Forum (DLF) and IES Inland Empire Event
ECLS Bowling teams dominated the industry bowling season by sweeping first place in both the Los Angeles Designer Lighting Forum (DLF) event and IES Inland Empire event. The accompanying images show that while CLS bowlers have mad skills and are dressed to kill, they also know how to have a good time. Thanks to all of the support we received from customers, manufacturers and fellow employees who participated the event! Click here for event photos.

Finelite Specifier Trip
Each year, Finelite hosts a dedicated factory trip for CLS and a group of selected Southern California specifiers. Finelite is not only one of the Country’s most innovative producers of high quality, glare-free commercial and institutional lighting, the Company is rightfully credited for having invented affordable high-performance indirect lighting.

This factory visit is one of CLS’ most popular Signature Events. Not only do guests receive a full day of accredited training at Finelite’s state-of-the-art Headquarters and manufacturing facility just south of San Francisco, they’re also treated to a weekend of some of the best food, wine and entertainment Northern California has to offer.

Last November, six members of the CLS team and 20 specifiers were treated to CEO Terry Clark and his talented group’s unsurpassed lighting knowledge and well-known hospitality. Click here for details and photos of this memorable event.

Light Show West
CLS is proud to have co-sponsored Light Show West (LSW) 2007, the West Coast’s largest lighting show held October 23rd and 24th at the L.A. Convention Center.

With 1200 attendees, LSW provided a terrific opportunity for nearly 30 of our outstanding manufacturers — both long-standing and new — to showcase their latest products, capabilities and services to many of the Coast’s top lighting professionals. see exhibitor booth photos

Kings versus Predators Game
In typical CLS style, we made sure the event was just as fun as it was productive. After escorting specifiers to our manufacturers’ booths in the Show’s CLS Pavilion on Tuesday, we took a group of our manufacturers’ hockey fans to a L.A. Kings/Nashville Predators game at Staples Center, complete with a pre-game tailgate party at the Daily Grill.

Weeks before the game, CLS principal Marcus Cone sent an email to every CLS manufacturer predicting the Kings would “crush” the Predators -- and even though the Kings entered the game with a dismal 2 & 5 record for the month, they did indeed crush the Predators (6-0) just as Marcus predicted. Hockey knowledge or just dumb luck? You decide . . .

Unwinding — Celebrity Style
After another successful show day on Wednesday, HE Williams hosted a LSW After-Party at Elevate, one of L.A.’s hippest clubs, where more than 200 specifiers, customers and CLS’ manufacturers were able to socialize and unwind from the show while enjoying spectacular views of the downtown skyline. see party photos

If you weren’t able to make it to LSW or our associated CLS Signature Events this year, you missed an illuminating show as well as a great time. Keep an eye on the CLS website later in 2008 for information on what we’ll be up to at the next Light Show West.
